EdTA National Honor 2023-2026
Educational Theatre Association
PREMIER COMMUNITIES FOR
THEATER EDUCATION
Mira Costa High School was among only 12 schools nationally to be recognized for displaying outstanding commitment to theatre education!

Fullerton Festival
Mira Costa Tech students compete with more than 60 other high schools each year at the Fullerton College High School Theater Festival. MCHS Tech teams have participated in this prestigious competition for more than 30 years.
Tech Olympics
Mira Costa’s Tech Team has seen extraordinary success in Tech Olympics, winning 1st and often 2nd place every year since the third year of competition. Tech Olympics include events such as knot tying, electrical wiring, sound system setup, costume quick change, lighting, and much more, requiring students to perform under pressure and put their hands-on skills and knowledge to the test.
Production Design
The Mira Costa teams also compete in categories such as:
● lighting design
● costume design
● stage production
● scenic design
● graphic design
● sound design
● makeup design, and more
Throughout the year, they work to create a full production design that brings their creations to life. The student designer’s production must be performed in front of a live audience prior to the festival and every aspect of their design and experience will be visually and verbally presented at the festival. This process is a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and see their visions come to life.
